The Manhattan Cricket Club, a hidden cocktail bar on the Upper West Side serves sophistication straight up. Its plush interiors transport you to a Victorian Era, and the cocktails…well they transport you somewhere different every time.

The owner, Tim Harris, showed me the secrets of one of the most popular players on the menu, the Salt & Pepper. It reminded me of a cross between a martini and a bloody Mary, and drinking it made me want to eat a few salty snacks to complement the flavor. Tim, on the other hand, says it’s a meal of its own.
