Clean flavors, strong coffee and just the right pace, Dominique Bistro pays a special tribute to Paris from its corner of the West Village in New York City.
Looking back on my photos of my meal with my friend Deena at Dominique Bistro, ‘afternoon bliss’ comes to mind. Could have been the fall air, and that I finally got to wear my new coat, but everything just seemed right – especially after we had our cappuccinos in hand and gazed out the window at charming Christopher Street.
Here’s what we ordered:
Cappuccinos-they not only had that cute Instagram-worthy design, but were delicious and piping hot.
Avocado Toast-could have continued eating this for the rest of the day, but had to try something else too! The bread was perfectly crunchy and the savory avocado spread had just the right blend of garlic and salt.
Duck hash-duck confit, lardons and poached eggs to top it off, this is the hearty dish that will be my comfort food this winter.
Berry Belgian Waffles – I don’t normally order a sweet brunch, but chocolate mousse with berries and waffles was calling my name. And just like that, the French do it again! Fresh berries topped a mound of waffles that were perfectly balanced by a dollop of cold, rich chocolate mousse.
Why I would go back: to experience a brunch that’s not rushed, and the food stands out for just being treated correctly. Like, you can really taste what you’re eating, and the chef clearly knows how to highlight natural flavors.
Too many places in New York try to rush you out, but the vibes in this bistro were that of a real French Café. People chillin’ on their computers, sipping coffees, chatting softly. The servers were courteous and attentive.
I think it would be a great place to go by yourself. Have you ever done that? I think I need to have an alone meal one day, and this would be the place. Yet it’s also where you would want to meet an old friend, or have a great chat with your mom. Peaceful, deeply satisfying and comfortable – that is Dominique Bistro.
I received a complimentary meal at Dominique Bistro.
Amazing! Maybe I will try to go on my own. The food looks AMAZING!
